"What do you do?"

"I play the piano."

"No, what do you do for work?"

"I play the piano."

"What do you mean?"

"I move my fingers on the keys and sound comes out."

"You get paid for that?"

"Yes."

"That's weird."

  1. Yeah, well at least people have HEARD of a piano. Try telling someone you make a living playing tabla and djembe. ;-) ...and then just for added shock value, I tell them that I even have a MASTERS degree in beating on said dead animal skins...but they don't have to call me "Master" - "Your Excellency" is fine.

  2. I think that "Your Masterful Lordship, Most Excellent" more fully captures your Wondrous Self. But, then again, it is kind of late, and I might reconsider in the light of day.

I once told someone that I have a Master's degree in piano performance, and he actually thought I was making it up. I guess he grew up under a rock somewhere. Maybe in Arkansas. But, I could be wrong.
